The SRI2MARKET project is co-financed by the European Commission, with the aim of supporting Member States in integrating a Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) into their regulations.
In the revision of the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), published in May 2024 (Directive (EU) 2024/1275), it is outlined that, following a testing phase, the SRI will become mandatory starting in 2027 for buildings with a total rated power exceeding 290 kW.
By participating in this project, Mota-Engil ATIV aims to support its clients in preparing for the adoption of the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) as outlined in this new directive.
The SRI methodology assesses a building’s readiness for adopting smart technologies based on its ability to perform three key functions:

- Adapt its operation to the needs of the occupants;
- Adapt its operation according to signals from the electricity grid (to promote energy demand flexibility mechanisms).
At this moment, Portugal is in a pilot phase, and the project will leverage the experience of countries that are more advanced in this area, such as Austria and France.
