iming at sharing technological knowledge in asset engineering management, with a focus on sustainable and digital innovation, it brought together more than 400 representatives from Portuguese-speaking and Spanish-speaking countries and communities from Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
Under the theme “Sustainable and Digital Innovation in Engineering Asset Management,” it addressed various topics related to sustainability, digitalization, and advanced technologies, setting a benchmark for excellence in Engineering Asset Management.
Mota-Engil ATIV and Mota-Engil BCircle actively participated in various moments of the conference, and on the second day, they invited some of their partners for a round table dedicated to the theme of Circular Economy, to jointly present Biochar and highlight its applications in this context.


It was an enriching session focused on environmental protection and sustainability, and the theme was also addressed by our academic partner, Diego Arán, who presented the case study “Botichar” Project – The First Steps Towards Decarbonisation In Portugal”.
Still within the scope of Congrega, and on the last day of the congress, Mota-Engil ATIV and BCircle received the entrepreneurship award for the first Technological Carbon Sequestration project, which will be located in Carvalhelhos, in the Municipality of Boticas, and is expected to start operations later this year.
This distinction was the culmination of a fruitful participation in this prestigious event in the field of Asset Management, which recognizes and reinforces confidence in the structured business model and the aligned vision for the project. It also provides visibility for projects related to circularity and economically viable climate change mitigation through climate and carbon investment. CONGREGA 2024 aims to accelerate collaboration between industry and academia to address challenges related to investment planning, maintenance and operation strategies, or end-of-life asset management, with the goal of maximizing the value generated from these engineering assets.
