“Ethics and Privacy in Automation Processes” Seminar at the European University

The invitation came from Ricardo Bonacho, professor in charge of the Digital Transformation and Human Resources course in the Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management at the European University, addressing a recurring issue in the implementation of new technologies in digital transformation processes in Organizations.

Joaquim Bonacho, Contract Director of Instrumentation and Automation at Mota Engil-ATIV, participated in the seminar “Ethics and Privacy in Automation Processes,” where principles and practices were discussed to ensure that automation technologies are used fairly, responsibly, and safely, protecting the confidentiality and integrity of both sensitive data related to the process itself and personal data.

The invitation came from Ricardo Bonacho, professor in charge of the Digital Transformation and Human Resources course in the Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management at the European University, addressing a recurring issue in the implementation of new technologies in digital transformation processes in Organizations.

For two hours, Joaquim Bonacho highlighted the social and employment impact, autonomous decision-making, bias and fairness, privacy and surveillance, sustainability, and inclusive development.

“On these topics, I always addressed some cases and provided examples related to our activities, emphasizing sustainability and how automation has the potential to positively or negatively impact environmental sustainability, and how at ATIV, there is a strong concern about this.

Joaquim Bonacho also emphasized that “decisions about how and where to implement automated technologies have ethical implications related to resource management, environmental impacts, and commitments to future generations.”

Undoubtedly, a relevant and current topic in what was a sharing from both sides.
