On April 24, a corporate volunteering activity took place, promoted by the Manuel António da Mota Foundation, following an initiative by Mota-Engil NEXT as part of World Environment Day 2024. The goal was to collect hundreds of plants through a solidarity walk/run.
Under the guidance of Mota-Engil ATIV technicians, employees from various companies within the Mota-Engil Group joined forces and got their hands dirty to plant around a thousand specimens in Midões, Gondomar.
After an initial briefing led by Luís Alves, an agronomist and consulting partner of Mota-Engil, the volunteers began the ecological restoration work.

Chestnut trees, wild cherry trees, wild pear trees, cork oaks, holly, and strawberry trees were some of the species planted. These play an essential role in preventing soil erosion, controlling invasive species, retaining water, and promoting biodiversity by providing food for insects and local wildlife.
This initiative continues the Mota-Engil Group’s environmental commitment, which began in 2023 with the planting of a microforest on the grounds of Casa do Lago, at the Mota-Engil yard in Porto Alto.
