Mota-Engil ATIV was honored with a PT Global Water Awards 2024 for its project to rehabilitate 9,441 meters of wastewater drainage pipelines, with diameters ranging from 300 to 1200mm, using CIPP (Cured in Place Pipe) lining technology without trenching, in Santa Cruz de La Sierra, Bolivia.
Framed within the 19th Expo Water Conference, the PT Global Water Awards are a joint initiative by the PPA – Portuguese Water Partnership and the newspaper Água e Ambiente, recognizing companies, projects, and professionals operating in foreign markets, celebrating success and excellence across various categories.
A Mota-Engil ATIV candidatou-se na categoria Empreitadas, relativa a iniciativas de construção de infraestruturas e implantação de instalações, e foi reconhecida como uma das empresas que contribuem para a internacionalização do setor da água.
Out of the total 9,441 meters contracted for rehabilitation, 6,278 meters have already been completed, representing a 66.5% completion rate for the project, serving a population of approximately 3 million in the city of Santa Cruz de La Sierra, Bolivia.
The rehabilitation of existing wastewater networks using non-destructive technology, without trenching, minimizes the impact of these interventions on populations and the affected social and economic activities, ensuring the continuity and operability of the systems.
Neste mercado, operado maioritariamente por empresas argentinas, colombianas e americanas, a Mota-Engil ATIV foi pioneira a introduzir um operador português neste setor, apesar da desconfiança inicial dos restantes operadores e cliente, claramente superada com a capacidade de entrega e qualidade demostrada durante todo o projeto.
Augusto Junqueiro, CEO, and Paulo Gregório, Coordinating Director of the Business Unit, received the award, highlighting the importance of this project, particularly given its context in a demanding geography with challenges on multiple levels.
