Webinar: Buildings, a key factor in the energy transition?

At the invitation of Schneider Electric, Mota-Engil ATIV participated in a webinar discussing the vital role of efficient buildings in the energy transition.

What defines the energy efficiency of a large building? What role do these buildings play in the energy transition? What difference do efficient buildings make in meeting environmental goals and in the comfort and safety of users? How can users play an active role in energy production? What technology is already being made available to contribute to these goals of the European Green Deal? Will we be able to meet the metrics in the construction field in time? How can these buildings contribute to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles? What are the future trends in the field of efficient buildings?

These were some of the topics discussed, taking into account the current situation in Portugal and Europe in the context of decarbonization and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, with some metrics needing to be met by 2030.

On the path to building decarbonization, Mota-Engil ATIV provides comprehensive energy efficiency solutions that support Clients on their roadmap to energy, from energy audit and certification, to the proposal, implementation, and measurement of the success of improvement solutions and respective savings.

Pedro Dias, Director of the Energy Division, explained that Mota-Engil ATIV proposes energy efficiency measures according to the various types of their Clients and tries to understand where more energy is being consumed, where action can be taken, and how, “because what is important are the people and ensuring conditions of comfort, quality, safety, and health

“It is necessary to look at the systems, understand how they can be acted upon, and for that, it is essential to go a bit further, having a system that can integrate all the variables and through it allow the best possible control to ensure the best conditions inside,” added Pedro Dias.

In the broader debate on the topic, along with other relevant market players, Mota-Engil Renewing, ADENE – the Energy Agency, and the Portuguese Association of Real Estate Developers and Investors also participated.
