The APFM Sustainability Conference took place on June 25 at the NOS cinemas in Colombo Shopping Center, once again with the support of Mota-Engil ATIV, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the sustainable and resilient management of infrastructure.
In a global context marked by systemic failures, extreme weather events, and increasing regulatory demands, the themes of sustainability and resilience were discussed as strategic pillars inseparable from modern management of facilities and institutional spaces.
This year’s edition brought together industry leaders, experts, and end users in a debate focused on practical strategies to tackle real-world challenges, inspired by recent events—particularly the April 28 blackout—which exposed the critical dependence of many services on electricity supply.
In this context, and despite the challenges, Mota-Engil ATIV remained consistently present on the ground, with a proactive and dedicated approach to ensuring the continuity of essential services. The direct monitoring of operations helped mitigate the impacts of the blackout, highlighting the importance of close, reliable, and well-prepared technical management in the face of the unexpected.
The APFM Sustainability Conference thus reinforced the urgency of integrating sustainability and resilience into the core strategy of organizations—not as a response to emergencies, but as a permanent condition for operational continuity and security in an increasingly interdependent world.
