El metano es un potente gas de efecto invernadero, entre 26 y 36 veces m\u00e1s nocivo que el CO2 a la hora de atrapar el calor en la atm\u00f3sfera durante un periodo de 100 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n<p>Ante este problema, en lugar de liberarlos a la atm\u00f3sfera, los GEI pueden recogerse, convertirse y utilizarse como fuente de energ\u00eda renovable mediante generadores, que producen electricidad quemando biog\u00e1s de vertedero.
