The “Innovation Challenge” is an initiative of \u00c1guas do Tejo Atl\u00e2ntico (AdTA) that aims to boost and consolidate the culture of innovation and cooperation between the business sector and the scientific community to meet the main challenges of the water sector.<\/p>\n\n

Accordingly, it aims to encourage and reward the development of innovative ideas, projects and solutions that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the company’s processes and activities. The fifth edition of the competition was based on three themes: AdTA 4.0; Optimisation of Operational Management; and Recovery and Enhancement of Resources.<\/p>\n\n

Under the theme AdTA 4.0. Mota-Engil ATIV’s project, “Application of Augmented Reality in Water Plants”, arose as a response to the increase in the amount of data collected in the systems that are intended to be controlled.<\/p>\n\n

Using a technology that allows more information to be seen in a certain scenario than is possible to see with the naked eye, the user can observe, in real time, system variables that may help in the resolution of problems, without needing to physically access certain locations with fewer conditions or greater safety risk.<\/p>\n\n

This system thus allows a reduction in on-site intervention and shut-down times, mitigation of damage to assets or people and, on an environmental level, it encourages the acceleration of the migration of paper documents to digital format and an improvement in the speed of response to any problems that jeopardize environmental safety.<\/p>\n\n

The protection of public health, of ecosystems and the guarantee of the sustainability of water resources are top priority commitments for the preservation of the planet and of future generations. Mota-Engil ATIV develops solutions at all the critical stages for the management of this strategic resource, namely in the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of systems associated with water in all its uses, promoting its circularity.<\/p>\n\n
