The theme of the Conference, held at the Aveiro Congress Center, was the “Green and Digital Transition.” It aimed to discuss the solutions that the Cluster’s members currently have to address today’s challenges, as well as to promote extensive interaction among the approximately 150 participants.
The Cluster’s partner entities aim to create synergies for the development of new products, technologies, and construction systems, as well as a new approach to the design of spaces and environments.
Extremely versatile, Biochar is a material with nearly endless applications. Today, it is possible to find successful cases of its use in plaster and coatings, brick manufacturing, as an additive in bituminous materials, in insulation material, and as a component in asphalt. In all these cases, it replaces materials with a high environmental footprint.
In addition to this, it is a crucial carbon sink. By incorporating Biochar into the structures around us, we not only take advantage of its properties to create more sustainable ecosystems and more resilient buildings, but we also sequester and store carbon in durable materials. This leverages resource circularity to create carbon-neutral or even carbon-negative cities.
In addition to the benefits of this material, Mota-Engil ATIV had the opportunity to present several more of its solutions in the areas of Water, Energy, and Carbon Efficiency. These were showcased through various e-posters that were displayed and discussed during the networking sessions held throughout the day.
For Mota-Engil ATIV, it was a day full of learning and inspiration, where they also contributed to disseminating the purpose of sustainability in the construction sector and learning about new solutions for the challenges of the green and digital transition.
