Mota-Engil ATIV has completed the construction work for the cycle path and redevelopment of Avenues 5 de Outubro and Canto do Pinheiro, in Alcochete.
The project included upgrading the road and reducing its width, replacing, and harmonising pavements, creating car parks and installing new vertical and horizontal signs, renovating the water and sewage system and street lighting, planting trees and shrubs, new street furniture such as benches, drinking fountains, shelters, recycling bins and equipment for physical activity.
The contract aims to improve road safety, reduce noise levels from car traffic and improve conditions for travelling by soft modes through the construction of cycle and pedestrian routes.
In addition, the benefits derived from the intervention involved, among other things, improving the energy and environmental efficiency of the transport system, improving the quality of the urban environment (by reducing pollutant emissions and noise) and promoting more active lifestyles.
