At Mota-Engil ATIV, we are strongly committed to the sustainability of our activity as well as that of our Partners and Customers.
One of the major projects we are developing is within the scope of Reducing the Impacts of Climate Change, specifically in the reduction of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, by increasing Carbon Sequestration.
We have gathered conditions to promote the Forest Re-establishment, at no cost to the owners or management entities, of agricultural or forest areas that may have been affected by biotic and abiotic agents (catastrophic events), or that are currently unproductive or abandoned land, etc.
We have seven carbon sequestration projects underway, covering a total of 1,603 ha, with the planting of more than 1,543,865 trees with a predicted result of 450,000 t (CO2) sequestrated over a 40-year period.
The choice of species is essential to ensure greater resilience of our forest to fires and climate change.
In our projects, we use mixtures of native species in accordance with those indicated by the ICNF for each of the sub-regions of the PROF (Regional Forestry Plan), as can be seen, for example, in the technical file below, relating to the Corvaceira Project.
