Driven by the Equipment Division, assisted by Major Projects, Mota-Engil ATIV acquired 10 autonomous units to carry out meadow maintenance.
The electric robots are totally autonomous, since they have a photovoltaic panel that charges the battery as they operate.
Operating as a herd, each robot is assigned 1ha for mowing, through an application that can be accessed via the web or through an app on the mobile phone. A battery allows continuous operation of the robot for 24 hours. At the same time, an operator can remotely monitor a herd of more than 50 robots, with no need to be present on site.
As they operate at low speed, these units have no projections, making them ideal for operating in photovoltaic plants. he fact that they are autonomous also enables a change in the mowing paradigm, i.e., the robots work in such a way as not to allow the meadow to grow above a certain height.
Currently, organizations have assumed sustainability as a priority commitment. In response to this global challenge, Mota-Engil ATIV has sought to provide new solutions that promote operational efficiency, the health and safety of people and better management of resources, including energy.
