The works consisted in the construction of a bike path, with about 6 km in 30 streets of the city, adapted for safe and comfortable cycling for all citizens divided by types of lanes: common (shared by cars and bicycles), shared (between pedestrians and bicycles) and exclusive to bicycles
The Viseu Cycling Network Project aimed to define a strategy for cycling and pedestrian mobility in the city, to complement the supply of public and individual transport in an integrated manner.
Framed within the Soft Mobility Plan, the project sought a new sustainable model for the city, more efficient, greener, and better serving the needs of the local population.
In the future, the Municipality of Viseu aims to put in place the remaining two phases, which will total 66 km of bike paths.
